The San Diego Chapter of the California Dressage Society
Announces Major Changes to the CDS-SD Show Circuit
Beginning in 2008
The 2008 show season is underway. The 2008 competition will run from October 1, 2007 through September 30, 2008.
The circuit accumulates the class standings earned by each participating CDS Amateur, Junior/Young Rider, and Open rider throughout the show season. A rider with a score of 55% or greater earns 5 points for finishing in first place, 3 points for finishing in 2nd place, 2 points for finishing in 3rd place, and 1 point for finishing in 4th place. At the Awards Party, held in the first part of the following calendar year, awards are given to 1st through 3rd place at each level, Training through FEI. FEI encompasses Prix St. Georges through Grand Prix. At this time, there are no awards given for Freestyles, Performance, or In-Hand classes.
At each show, a $3 fee for each horse and rider combination is collected. Each horse and rider combination is charged only once per show, regardless of the number of classes in which that combination competes. Riders competing on more than one horse, however, are charged separately for each horse on which they are competing.
What’s New?
Only recognized shows in San Diego County will be invited to participate in the circuit. These shows include the three CDS San Diego Chapter shows (June, August and September) and The Del Mar Classic and Dressage Affaire CDIs put on by KP Events. Others who will be invited to participate are Creek Hollow Ranch, Ramona, Legacy Farms, ECI-San Marcos and Sweetwater Farms. Official shows will be listed here on the web site.
Riders must score 55% or better to earn points.
Riders must volunteer at least 4 hours or equivalent at a CDS-SD chapter event during the year to be eligible for year end awards. Volunteer opportunities include the three CDS San Diego Chapter shows (June, August and September), The Del Mar Classic, and the Dressage Affaire. Please refer to our website for an expanded list of volunteer opportunities. Volunteers may have surrogates as long as the arrangement is coordinated through the Volunteer Coordinator. (Please note that due to the historic relationship between CDS-San Diego and The Dressage Affaire/Del Mar Classic, volunteer hours at those shows WILL count towards satisfaction of the volunteer requirement even though they are no longer CDS-San Diego events.)
