2012 CDS San Diego Chapter Circuit Information
The 2012 show season is underway. The 2012 competition season runs from October 1, 2011 through September 30, 2012.
To be eligible for circuit awards, a rider must meet the following criteria:
- CDS member
- Achieve a qualifying score (60% or greater) at a CHAPTER SHOW
- Accrue points from participating circuit shows (double points are awarded at chapter shows)
**NEW IN 2012: The volunteer requirement has been replaced by the qualifying score requirement at a CHAPTER SHOW. This is expected to result in at least 20 qualified riders at each level in the AA and O divisions, and 10 in the Jr/YR division.
The circuit accumulates the class standings earned by each participating CDS Amateur, Junior/Young Rider, and Open rider throughout the show season. A rider with a score of 60% or greater earns 5 points for each 1st place finish, 3 for each 2nd, 2 for each 3rd and 1 for each 4th. At the Awards Party, held early the following year, awards are given to the 1st through 3rd place competitors at each level, with separate awards for AA, O and Jr/YR. A single award encompasses all of FEI. No awards/points are given for freestyles, performance or in-hand classes. Typically, Circuit Champions receive embroidered jackets or vests (or halters, if they prefer), along with flowers and a ribbon. Lesser prizes may be given for second and third place, depending on the generosity of our sponsors. All three places always receive flowers and fancy ribbons.
The following shows are currently confirmed to be participating in the San Diego circuit: SD-CDS February-June-August-September***; Creek Hollow Ranch Series (excludes schooling shows) and Dressage Affaire. Others may be added. The website will be updated and they will be added to the CDS Calendar (with the proper notation) as we receive confirmation. Meanwhile, it is the rider's responsibility to confirm with the show management that they are indeed part of the SD circuit.
*** Circuit points are doubled at the February, June, August and September SD-CDS shows ***
The removal of the volunteer requirement is in response to a request from our competitors, who assure us that we will still have an adequate volunteer pool. We listen.
