Beverly Sinclair
Volunteer Coordinator

Originally from Seattle, Beverly has been on horses since she was 18 months old. Between her mother's passion for horses, her father's sport interest in track racing, and her uncle, who bred, raised and trained thoroughbreds, race tracks have always been in her background, and she has admired the thoroughbred breed.

Thousands of hours as a youth schooling and training hunter jumpers landed her a job running an equestrian center for foster care children during her undergraduate and post-graduate college years in California. She used her contacts in the racing industry to solicit and retrain several ex-racehorses for use in the education and recreation program or for sale into other disciplines throughout the United States, using the money for the program. She also created an interactive volunteer program for the organization and taught some of the lessons to the kids.

Beverly came to dressage when she found one of her family's recently retired track horses refusing to eat and malnourished, with what appeared to be a broken spirit. Human phobic and labeled psychotic, she says he looked like a donkey put out to pasture. Beverly decided he needed a job, but a track injury ruled out a jumping career, so Beverly joined the USDF. That was 1999. After years of retraining and trust coaching, they competed in their first dressage test together in 2009, scoring 64%! They love to learn and to be a team, which Beverly thinks is the most important thing in dressage, and will continue to move forward together. They currently train under Faith Grimm in Orange County.

Beverly looks forward to getting to know the San Diego Chapter, and she embraces her new responsibility with enthusiasm.
