Shari says,
"Dressage is like a box of chocolates…you never know what you are going to get. Sometimes you have to weed through some nuts and occasionally you get something yummy! I lived the deprived life and didn't get my first horse until I graduated UCSD. I rode just for the fun of it and managed a local stable in Del Mar for many years.
"Then along came a once in a lifetime dream horse who was a hidden asset in a divorce sale. I bought Justice, a 17.1 h gray Trakehner gelding sired by Abdullah, online, and the next thing I knew, he was the center of my universe. I quit my law firm job to be able to spend more time with him. I slowly started dressage in 2003. I tend to be an analytical thinker, learning from watching others, eavesdropping on lessons, videos, clinics, etc…but I still proceed at a snail's pace when it comes to rider improvement. I am a big sized lady with no natural rhythm or balance. At this point I am still more of a passenger, but am brave enough to go outside my comfort zone once in awhile. In 2009, I did a Pas De Deux on my 40th birthday--what an adventure and dream come true! Justice and I are currently showing Training Level AA, as I am still trying to master the art of roundness, forwardness and the stretchy trotting circle.
"My goal with CDS is to motivate and inspire others at the lower levels to get out there and go for it, particularly those who have never shown or who lack confidence. If I can do it, anyone can!
