Lecture by Mark Silverman, DVM, MS
March 16Sporthorse Veterinary Services kicks off their 2010 Client-Doctor Discussion Series on Tuesday, March 16 at 7:00 PM at the SVS Podiatry Center with a lecture on the PrePurchase Exam by Dr. Mark Silverman. Covered topics will include the importance of the prepurchase exam, its role in choosing the right equine candidate, and how the upfront cost can help avoid a potentially expensive mistake. He will outline the systematic approach taken, and he'll answer questions from the floor. Seating is limited--RSVP required. Click here for details.
Waltzing With Your Horse
March 21A multi-disciplinary interactive workshop to help riders move in partnership with their horses, with USDF Certified Instructor Sue Eoff, who is also a nationally-ranked ballroom dancer; Janelle Robine, a licensed physical therapist and hippotherapist at the Shea Center in Orange County; Trish Evans, a full-time licensed Physical Therapist Assistant at the Shea Center and an IFPA-certified Personal Trainer; and Karen Henken, Certified Team Leader with RenuHealth. $10 donation to benefit the Shea Center Therapeutic Riding Program. Johannes Beck-Broichsitter
April 21 - May 2Johannes Beck-Broichsitter, a Grand Prix dressage trainer primarily influenced by the Sapnish riding school, will be available for lessons most days April 21 - May 2, with an opportunity for him to teach at your facility. He will be at Willow Glen Equestrian Center in El Cajon for part of the two weekends. Riders of all levels will benefit, and horses can also be worked in hand. $75.00 a ride. Auditors are free. Gerd Heuschmann at Creek Hollow Ranch
May 7 - 9Dr. Gerd Heuschmann, veterinarian and Bereiter in Germany, and considered to be one of the world's experts on the biomechanics of the horse, will describe the basic anatomy and physiology of the horse in his lectures and riding clinics, offering biomechanical solutions that encourage the well-being and proper muscle development of the horse. During the practical part of the clinic, he will demonstrate different exercises to achieve balance and throughness for each horse, addressing each horse's individual needs. 3 day lecture/audit-- $100; 2 day audit only-- $85; 1 day audit only-- $45; Lecture only-- $65 (USDF University credit available). $300/single ride; $500/two rides.
